Meaning:

Why it matters:

Clause
Meaning:
A specific section or paragraph in a contract that deals with one topic.
Why it matters:
Contracts are divided into clauses so each issue is clearly explained.

Mutual agreement
Meaning:
A decision or change that both sides accept.
Why it matters:
Many contracts can only be changed with mutual agreement.
Example:
“The deadline can be extended by mutual agreement.”

Negotiable
Meaning:
Open to discussion or change.
Why it matters:
Knowing what is negotiable helps you focus on what you can ask for.
Example:
“The price is negotiable, but the delivery date is fixed.”

Obligation
Meaning:
A duty or responsibility that a person or company must fulfill.
Why it matters:
Contracts clearly list each party's obligations.
Example:
“It is the supplier's obligation to deliver the goods on time.”
