Here is a sample conversation between a teller and a customer in a bank:


TOPIC: Opening a bank account

Customer: No, this would be my first one.

Language & communications notes

Polite requests:
“I'd like to...” is more formal and polite than “I want to...”

Bank vocabulary:
checking account, deposit, debit card, online banking

Common question forms:
“May I...?” and “Would you like...?” are formal and professional.

Agreeing to terms (“That's fine.”)
