Commission structures vary widely: some salespeople earn straight commission (a percentage of everything they sell), others get a base salary plus commission. "OTE" (On-Target Earnings) is the total you'd earn if you hit your quota — a term you'll see in any English-language sales job posting.
"Objection handling" is the formal term for addressing a customer's concerns or hesitations. In sales training, it's often described as "turning objections into opportunities." Common objections include price, timing, and need.
The word "close" is both a verb and a noun in sales: "Did you close the deal?" or "He made the close." A "soft close" eases a customer toward a decision; a "hard close" asks directly for the sale.
